Date set for TTHB Annual Awards

posted 17/11/16

The Trinidad an Tobago Hockey Board will celebrate the achievements of the past year when they host their annual awards function on Sunday 11th December in the VIP Lounge, Hasely Crawford Stadium. Petrotrin Men were once again dominant in 2016 copping the Outdoor League and Big 4 titles but faced stiff competition from a youthful Malvern team who claimed the indoor crown. Paragon women also enjoyed similar successes winning the Outdoor League and Opening Day titles but Harvard Checkers (Big 4) and Ventures (Indoor) denied them of a clean sweep. The year was also highlighted by our male and female junior national teams placing 5th and 6th respectively in their Junior Pan Am Championships.

posted 20/9/16

Trinidad and Tobago's Senior Men's team are currently preparing for the FIH World League Round 2 which will take place in March, 2017 in Trinidad and, as part of their preparations, they took on the Barbados Senior Men in a 4 match series at the National Hockey Centre, Tacarigua. After winning the first 3 matches ; 3-1, 1-1 (4-3 on penalty s/o) and 3-2 T&T went into the final match on Sunday hoping to complete the sweep. Goals by Akim Toussaint and Kieron Emmanuel were not enough to give T&T the outright victory and they went to another penalty shootout after scores were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation. T&T goalkeeper, Andrey Rocke, was the hero making 4 of 5 saves in the shootout while Toussaint, Teague Marcano, Shaquille Daniel and Marcus Pascal all converted their penalties to give T&T the 4-1 win on shootout.

Barbados will have taken a lot of positives from their performances in this series as they start their World League Round 1 journey next week in Salamanca, Mexico in the hope of qualifying for the 2nd Round.

Olympic Hockey coming to a close

posted 16/8/16

Hockey at the Olympics is providing some shockers and almost indicating a 'changing of the guard'. Powerhouses and 2-time defending Olympic champions in the men, Germany, were humbled 5-2 by Argentina in the semifinals, and with the win, Argentina books their first ever spot in the Olympic finals which assures them of their first ever Olympic medal in the men's category. Belgium will also be looking to do the same as they take on Holland later today in the other Men's semis.

On the women's side both Australia and Argentina, who have shown their dominance over the past two decades, did not make it to the semifinals. On the other hand, regulars Holland, Germany and Great Britain will look to come away with medals, while New Zealand will be looking to earn their first ever Olympic Hockey medal. Holland face Germany while New Zealand will face Great Britain in the women's semis starting tomorrow. For stats, and minute by minute updates click on the image above

Petrotrin join 'repeat' bandwagon

posted 5/7/16

Petrotrin, having last completed a 3-repeat in the Championship Men's division between 2011 and 2013, look well on their way to a 'repeat of the 3-peat' (a feat famously accomplished in the NBA by Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls in the 90s) after they were crowned champions for the 2nd consecutive year. 2016 seems to be the year of the repeat as Petrotrin join the bandwagon of Paragon (Championship Women) and Shandy Carib Magnolias (U19 Girls). It doesn't end there as repeat champions will be crowned in three more divisions of the TTHB's Outdoor League  ...Read More
